Sugar Scripts for Any Occasion

Sugar has been a part of my life since I was an infant.  And believe me, I was not born with this superwoman “sugar-is-not-appealing” strength.

I had to go through many times of breaking my addiction, getting addicted again, then cutting the habit, and getting addicted before I finally figured out some tips to stop the habit for good.

Now that I know how devastating sugar is to your weight loss goals and how it wreaks havoc in the body, I want to share some tips on how to handle yourself in social events where you are offered sugar left and right.

All of us have been in this situation.

You’re at a party, and suddenly someone comes to you and gives you a piece of cake.

I believe we deserve to have other options than just saying “Yes” out of guilt and eating that piece of cake.

If this is not the day that you planned to have your cheat meal, then there are several things you can do and say.

If you’re offered a piece of cake, you can say, “No, thank you. I’m good, thanks very much.  Have you seen the rainbow today?  Wasn’t it lovely?”

This is called deflection.

You say “No,” thank the person, and then follow it with small talk about a general but exciting topic.

This will take the person’s mind away from the sugar and from recognizing that you don’t want sugar (which makes them question your sanity or wonder what’s wrong with them not to have the willpower to say no to sugar… none of which has anything to do with you).

If deflection does not work, use an excuse.

You can say, “No thank you. I notice that when I eat sugar, my skin breaks out.  It must be an allergy.”

Usually, they stop at the word allergy.

Here you give an actual reason, and the person won’t take offense because you are taking full responsibility for your experience.

The Life-Changing-Event Excuse

Use this last tip when you’re confronted by a super aggressive sugar-pusher (aka your Grandmother) who may use guilt to shove sugar in your face.

This is when you need to pull out your big guns and go strong by saying that you are preparing for a contest, a photo shoot, an important event, or you’re getting ready for a vacation at the beach.  Tell them that you’re feeling great about the progress that you have been making.

You can then follow it up with another conversation about something that interests the person. What is their absolute favorite thing to talk about? Use that in this context now. You will need all the secret weapons you can handle to block this level of attack.

In our society today where social events center around food and sugar for that matter, we will be faced with these challenges.

It’s best to tackle them head-on with preparation and consciousness.

These scripts have been working for me for years.

So next time, when you’re in a party, you can try to use these lines and see how they work for you. I want to hear about how they worked for you.

Find The Motivation From Within

Are there days when you’re feeling heavy, wanting to lay your head down and just curl up in bed?

You know that you have to get up but your body has no desire to do it.

You dread the torture from exercise and  you force yourself to eat healthy.

You’re fighting a war with your mind and body and you just can’t win.

Has your motivation been zapped away?

I hear you.

I am a fitness coach and a fitness expert and still, there are days when I feel exactly like this…

…days when I do not want to exercise or eat healthy.

Instead of beating yourself up and feeling guilty about a “wasted” day, be gentle with yourself.

Know that is part of the process.

Motivation is a journey, not a destination.

Find the Motivation From Within 2It will keep getting stronger and it becomes a part of your being.

The motivation to a healthier life is inside you.

You will never lose that as long as you know why you started this journey.

The flame may not be strong now but when you tap into it, you’ll see it alive and burning.

You’ll feel the motivation coming back.

Remember that there will be days like this and it’s all part of the adventure.

The important thing is you accept it, move on and decide that tomorrow is another day…

…that you will get back on track and continue on with your journey to healthy and natural weight loss.

I Believe In You,

Love and Light,

Andréa

Stop Feeling Guilt and Shame

All of us, at some point in our lives, have felt awful and guilty right after giving in to our cravings.

For years, I was going through this cycle of giving in and feeling the shame and disgust.

After I saw how my face and body continuously bloated, I realized that this was not the way to live.

I listened intently to what my body was saying.

I realized that our bodies are constantly communicating with us.

It is telling you when it is sending out craving signals.

It is saying, “Hey, I am missing a vitamin. I am missing a nutrient.”

I have a great tip that worked for me tremendously and you can do this too.

Write down your cravings in a journal.

When you feel the craving come on, write down what you’re craving.

Then ask yourself the most powerful question: “Why am I craving what I’m craving?”

Your answer will reveal a ton.

You will find out whether you really want the potato chips or is it something deeper.

Perhaps you just want something crunchy in your mouth but not necessarily the chips.

Being aware of the root of your cravings makes you empowered to manage your it.

Just remember that if you give in, forgive yourself and move on.

This will get you back on track faster to continue on with your healthy and natural weight loss journey.

Try this and let me know how it works for you.

Sending You a Vibration of Awareness and Empowerment,

Love and Light,

Andréa

Andrea in Oxygen Magazine

The ups and downs of this journey of losing weight have been more intense than climbing Mt. Everest (the tallest mountain in the world).

If you would’ve told the “me” 15 years ago who was overweight, depressed and hated her body that at 37 she would start a new career as a fitness model, I would’ve thought you were smoking some mind altering substance.

But here it is… the latest edition of Oxygen magazine with me in a full-page spread.

I’m not saying that this journey is all glamorous and beautiful. I spend many nights alone, facing my demons and working through my feelings instead of stuffing them with food.

The food addictions still call my name.

I don’t know if they will ever go away.

And yet, I’ve found ways to channel that voice that wants to devour an entire pizza and apple pie (my favorites!)…

I write a lot more today than I did back then. I communicate about my feelings and thoughts before they become too overwhelming.

I watch the inner voice that wants to tell me, “I’m not good enough”…

When she wants to knock out my voice of strength and grab the wheel, I gently remind her that her voice is heard, and that I appreciate her perspective…

Instead of blaming or getting angry at her, I listen, and then tell her she is loved and valuable.

I thank her for her perspective because I see her intention that she wants to make me stronger.

Once that voice is recognized and validated, she no longer wants to drive the wheel of my choices, running us off a cliff.

She is content to sit in the passengers seat and navigate or simply relax and enjoy the ride.

The truth is, there is a part of me that still feels like I’m that same overweight, sluggish, depressed and angry girl I was in my teens and 20s…

I don’t want her to go away!

I embrace her.

She is a part of me.

She is still inside of me, and I love her for all the pain she has showed me.

Without the shadows, we never see the light.

Without this journey, I wouldn’t be celebrating today.

The highs mean nothing without the lows.

And the view from Mt. Everest isn’t the same if you take a helicopter up to the summit …

Verses walking up the mountain step-by-step.

Enjoy the view along the way.

This is your journey.

P.S. It has been a dream of mine for years to be in Oxygen magazine because it is the #1 fitness magazine for women in the world.

The women that are represented in this magazine are fit and lean, but still very feminine and toned. I wonder if they will ever know that I used to be overweight?

Can you tell?

Women’s Health & Fitness Magazine Cover

This is so weird to say this… it has been a dream since I was a little girl to be on the cover of a magazine! And now, at 36 years old it has come true.

I trained hard, removed all toxins from my diet (including sugar, alcohol and chemicals) for 6 months in order to get ready. On the day of the shoot, I showed up leaner and more toned than I’ve ever seen my body. What an incredible journey this has been.

* Of course, these results not typical of everyone who buys our products, individual results will vary based on dedication, body type & more.

AndreaAlbrightCoverInsert1Most people don’t believe me when I tell them I used to be overweight. I get it. Until they see my “before” photo, they want to stay stuck in the mindset that if “you’re born fat then you stay fat” … but this simply isn’t the truth.

I love proving to women that you can do anything you put your mind to.

So what’s YOUR goal? You can achieve it. Believe in yourself and never give up!
