CRAVINGS can control you.

I know this because I have lived decades of my life controlled by my cravings.

I would have the best intentions to eat healthy (and truly believe that I was going to stay on track) but then I would get so overwhelmed by a craving, all my willpower would go flying out the window.

It was not until the I studied the science of why we crave foods that I was finally able to take back control of my own body and brain.

Now, I can tell you honestly that cravings don’t control my life anymore.

When I teach this to my natural weight loss clients, they also have the same freedom from their cravings.

The Science Behind Cravings 

Let me ask you something…“When you have what you’re craving, does it actually go away?”

Do you feel satisfied when you have that ice cream, pizza or french fries?

Think about it.

Do you still crave something else even after eating it?

It turns out that CRAVINGS are your mind’s confusion. 

Most women that I work with are malnourished, meaning you are not getting the nutrition that your body and brain need.

When you are malnourished, your brain will send out a signal that you need to START EATING NOW because you are missing some vitamin, mineral or enzyme.

This is where your mind gets warped.

The presence of visual marketing, commercials and people selling sugar have all short circuited our interpretation of what our body is telling us.

In other words, your brain starts to believe the marketing message that was sent to your unconscious mind in a subliminal way.

Instead of having something with the vitamins and minerals that your body is actually deprived of, we lock onto the closest pizza, potato chips or cake because these are what we see in ads, magazines, on TV, and on the internet.

It’s a combination of this instinctual drive to satisfy your nutritional needs that gets warped thru media ad marketing.

When you eat these processed, chemical-filled foods, your brain and body go into a trance-like state.

There are a few moments where you are ‘numbed out’ and you’re not thinking or feeling anything (this is why these chemical-filled processed foods are SO addictive!).

These ‘fake foods’ are full of processed chemicals, sugar and salt that take over your biochemistry.

Even when you eat so much of it, your body will still tell you that it is craving for much more!

 

Hit By Your Cravings?… What Can You Do?…

This one simple tip completely changed my life and my clients’ lives too.

I practice this on myself and it sure does WORK!

If I crave something, I will eat a healthy mini-Meal™ which is my patented combination of lean protein, vegetables, healthy fats and slow burning carbohydrates.

take-control-of-your-cravings-2Once I do this, the cravings suddenly go away because my body feels alive with all the energy from the vitamins and minerals that I received from the mini-Meal™.

I feel satisfied!

That’s when I realize that I wasn’t actually craving the chocolate or the doughnut.

All my body needed was a good dose of nutritious food.

Try this and see how it works.

Now, if you are still craving it after eating the mini-Meal™, look deeper into yourself and see whether you have an emotional attachment to that particular food.

Perhaps you may be using that food to escape or relive something from a past memory.

When your cravings hit you, accept that this can happen to anyone.

Even the smartest and strongest women lose it and are taken off the healthy path when the cravings start to control them.

Shame and judgement will only make it bigger.

Think of the craving as a vehicle for you to start exploring and understanding what’s REALLY going on inside of your body, heart and mind.

You’ll discover that the mystery of why cravings happen can be decoded.

You can use your craving to help you lose weight and gain the health that you truly deserve.

Take control of your cravings and you will see yourself taking charge of your body in no time.

Stop Your Weight Gain Triggers

After coaching thousands of women through the weight loss journey, I’ve seen that you can have everything going great… but when you run into an emotional or mental trigger, you break down.

It’s important to understand what these triggers are, where they come from and how you can prevent them from sabotaging your weight loss success.

Newsflash: When you are on the healthy path, you are going to run directly into people and their excuses for why they can’t start and stick with their own weight loss journey.

Be prepared for this.

It is so important that you are able to hold your peace and light, and to not allow other people to affect you and take you off your path.

The goal is to recognize and stop the trigger as quickly as possible.

What Is A Trigger?

A TRIGGER is when you experience yourself as having an out of control reaction. In other words, you have an extreme response to something that happens.

When a trigger happens, you lose your ability to respond from your highest Self.

This can show up in different ways. Some people start to yell, shake, cry, say hurtful things, shut down or have obsessive thoughts.

They are triggered because they are so overwhelmed with emotions and they don’t know how to handle this in a healthy and productive way.

This also happens when people are consciously or unconsciously confronted with a particular truth that they are trying very hard to avoid.

They are denying that this situation exists and it has a huge impact on their emotional stability at the moment.

Their interpretation of the situation is making them react this way.

What To Do When You Get Triggered

When you recognize that you are triggered, you have the opportunity to do what most humans will never do.

Because you are a person committed to your own internal, personal growth, it is an opportunity to take the mirror of reflection and really look at yourself.

Be willing to ask “Why did I get triggered and why did I allow that to happen?”

You need to take 100% responsibility and own all of it.

When you do this, you will have the power inside of yourself to make the change.

Blaming others is like trying to change something that you don’t have control over.

When you focus on yourself, you will have more awareness and you will see  that you will be able to get through the most difficult situations.

You will be able to handle your reaction in a productive, healthy and loving way —  in alignment with your highest Self.

 

THE TRIGGER SWITCH: Two Common Triggers

  1. Expectations That Are Not Being Met
    Expectations will only lead to disappointment. When other people do not meet your expectations, this can cause you to be triggered.Start by looking at whether your expectations are setting them up to fail because they way too high. Look at the world through their eyes and bring some empathy and compassion.

    By being able to put yourself in another person’s perspective, you begin to have more understanding.

  2. Fear That Has Not Been Faced Yet
    When you encounter fear, it will send out a rush of chemicals like cortisol, which is the stress hormone.This can cause an extreme reaction because your brain is sending out a signal – “I’m in danger. I need to fight or flight”.When you recognize fear and actually feel it, run to the fear and face it head on.When you put yourself in a situation that you’ve got fear around (of course, this is not life-threatening or survival fear but maybe fear of speaking up, or fear of asking for that promotion), you are training your brain to be calm and in control.

    Be the person who is willing to see the fear as an opportunity to grow and not as an excuse to shut down or to be triggered.

In your weight loss journey, these triggers can become obstacles to achieve success.

They can be the obstacles that take you off your healthy path.

It’s time that we choose the highest version of ourselves. 

See these triggers as opportunities to grow and become stronger.

You will find that when you come back to the journey, you will have more richness and depth in your experience.

Shine Your Light On Toxic People

Imagine this…

You seem to be on a path of growth and you believe that you can achieve anything you want.

You feel so good about yourself!

Suddenly, you run into a conflict with a peer,  a co-worker or even someone you admire.

YOU COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN!

Has this ever happened to you?

Do you blame the other person for triggering you to have self-doubt and insecurities?

This is one of the biggest hangups that women have.

There are some women out there that believe that they are victims of the world…that they are victims of toxic people around them.

In conventional belief, the way to protect yourself from people who judge you and fight with you is to avoid them.

 

I say DO THE OPPOSITE.  

RUN TO THEM AND EVEN THANK THEM.

Take the belief that the best form of protection is owning your stuff.

When someone triggers me, I immediately go “Wow that really hurt but what is in me that has not been addressed yet?  What is that shadow that I’m too scared to look at?  Why does that person trigger me?”

In the 20 years of spiritual and metaphysical release, every time I ask these questions, I get an answer that allows me to go deeper.

Anytime someone shows up as toxic or threatening, I immediately question myself as to who I need to be so that I can thank the person for making me look deeper at this part of my journey.

When you have the same thinking, it will empower you and give you so much strength and light that you can walk into a room and thrive in an environment of toxic people.

 

What you need to remember is that when someone is becoming toxic around you, it’s because you have shown them so much light.

You become the vessel that awakens the toxicity inside of them.

They are detoxifying and healing right in front of your eyes and that’s an incredible experience.

You’re not arguing, agreeing or disagreeing or even engaging.

Engaging in confrontation with toxic people causes so much stress in our lives.

And as we all know, stress causes unwanted fat storage.

 

Choose to be the woman who has no arguments to prove, no arms to bear and no judgements to defend.

Your will have a more profound sense of who you are and your body will release all that protection that is showing up as body fat and unwanted weight gain.

When you follow the TrimTribe path, you will realize that it’s all about you.

That is the true essence of defense – IT COMES FROM WITHIN.

That is the part of you that comes from nothing to defend, prove or judge.

This is the part of you that is whole and complete just as you are.

Fat Melting Recipe “Turkey Chili”

Turkey Chili

Turkey, beans and chili…Who can go wrong with that combination? This dish has a rich and deep taste that lingers in your mouth.  It’s packed with natural power proteins that make you stay full longer and eliminate cravings. Enjoy every bit of its flavorful kick!

Ingredients:
1lb. of Ground Turkey ( ½lb. ground dark Turkey + ½lb. ground white Turkey works best)
1 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
2 Cans Diced Fire Roasted Tomatoes
2 Cans Lukewarm Water
1 Can Organic Black Beans (rinsed, drained)
¾ C. Red Onion
½ C. Red Bell Pepper/chopped
½ C. Yellow Bell Pepper/chopped
½ tsp. Chipotle Chili Flakes
1 tsp. Fresh garlic (minced)
1 tsp. Green Chili’s (diced)
½ Packet Stevia in the Raw

Turkey ChiliSpice Mixture for Turkey Chili:
2 Tbsp. Chili Powder
1 tsp. dried Oregano
1 tsp. granulated Garlic Powder
½ tsp. Cayenne Pepper (Turn up the AMP if you like more heat)
½ tsp. dried Cumin
1 Whole Bay Leaf
Dash of Nutmeg
Fresh chopped Cilantro (top garnish)

Directions:

In a small mixing bowl, combine all dry spices and set aside.

In a large Dutch oven, add diced fire-roasted tomatoes, 2 cans of water, black beans, bay leaf & Stevia.  Bring to a slight boil. Cover and continue to simmer.

In a large frying pan, heat coconut oil over medium heat.

Add turkey and brown thoroughly about 10 minutes, stirring frequently for even cooking.

Add dry ingredients to browned turkey and simmer for a 5 minutes longer.

Add turkey mixture to simmering tomatoes & beans.

Stir and bring back to gentle boil.

Lower heat and Simmer another 45 minutes. Serve hot with chopped cilantro.
