I know this because I have lived decades of my life controlled by my cravings.

I would have the best intentions to eat healthy (and truly believe that I was going to stay on track) but then I would get so overwhelmed by a craving, all my willpower would go flying out the window.

It was not until the I studied the science of why we crave foods that I was finally able to take back control of my own body and brain.

Now, I can tell you honestly that cravings don’t control my life anymore.

The Science Behind Cravings 

Let me ask you something…“When you have what you’re craving, does it actually go away?”

Do you feel satisfied when you have that ice cream, pizza or french fries?

Think about it.

Do you still crave something else even after eating it?

It turns out that CRAVINGS are your mind’s confusion. 

Most women that I work with are malnourished, meaning you are not getting the nutrition that your body and brain need.

When you are malnourished, your brain will send out a signal that you need to START EATING NOW because you are missing some vitamin, mineral or enzyme.

This is where your mind gets warped.

The presence of visual marketing, commercials and people selling sugar have all short circuited our interpretation of what our body is telling us.

In other words, your brain starts to believe the marketing message that was sent to your unconscious mind in a subliminal way.

Instead of having something with the vitamins and minerals that your body is actually deprived of, we lock onto the closest pizza, potato chips or cake because these are what we see in ads, magazines, on TV, and on the internet.

It’s a combination of this instinctual drive to satisfy your nutritional needs that gets warped thru media ad marketing.

When you eat these processed, chemical-filled foods, your brain and body go into a trance-like state.

There are a few moments where you are ‘numbed out’ and you’re not thinking or feeling anything (this is why these chemical-filled processed foods are SO addictive!).

These ‘fake foods’ are full of processed chemicals, sugar and salt that take over your biochemistry.

Even when you eat so much of it, your body will still tell you that it is craving for much more!

 

Hit By Your Cravings?… What Can You Do?…

This one simple tip completely changed my life and my clients’ lives too.

I practice this on myself and it sure does WORK!

If I crave something, I will eat a healthy mini-Meal™ which is my patented combination of lean protein, vegetables, healthy fats and slow burning carbohydrates.

It’s important to understand what these triggers are, where they come from and how you can prevent them from sabotaging your weight loss success.

Newsflash: When you are on the healthy path, you are going to run directly into people and their excuses for why they can’t start and stick with their own weight loss journey.

It is so important that you are able to hold your peace and light, and to not allow other people to affect you and take you off your path.

The goal is to recognize and stop the trigger as quickly as possible.

What Is A Trigger?

A TRIGGER is when you experience yourself as having an out of control reaction. In other words, you have an extreme response to something that happens.

When a trigger happens, you lose your ability to respond from your highest Self.

This can show up in different ways. Some people start to yell, shake, cry, say hurtful things, shut down or have obsessive thoughts.

They are triggered because they are so overwhelmed with emotions and they don’t know how to handle this in a healthy and productive way.

This also happens when people are consciously or unconsciously confronted with a particular truth that they are trying very hard to avoid.

They are denying that this situation exists and it has a huge impact on their emotional stability at the moment.

Their interpretation of the situation is making them react this way.

What To Do When You Get Triggered

When you recognize that you are triggered, you have the opportunity to do what most humans will never do.

Because you are a person committed to your own internal, personal growth, it is an opportunity to take the mirror of reflection and really look at yourself.

Be willing to ask “Why did I get triggered and why did I allow that to happen?”

You need to take 100% responsibility and own all of it.

When you do this, you will have the power inside of yourself to make the change.

Blaming others is like trying to change something that you don’t have control over.

When you focus on yourself, you will have more awareness and you will see  that you will be able to get through the most difficult situations.

You will be able to handle your reaction in a productive, healthy and loving way —  in alignment with your highest Self.

 

THE TRIGGER SWITCH: Two Common Triggers

  1. Expectations That Are Not Being Met
    Expectations will only lead to disappointment. When other people do not meet your expectations, this can cause you to be triggered.Start by looking at whether your expectations are setting them up to fail because they way too high. Look at the world through their eyes and bring some empathy and compassion.

    By being able to put yourself in another person’s perspective, you begin to have more understanding.

  2. Fear That Has Not Been Faced Yet
    When you encounter fear, it will send out a rush of chemicals like cortisol, which is the stress hormone.This can cause an extreme reaction because your brain is sending out a signal – “I’m in danger. I need to fight or flight”.When you recognize fear and actually feel it, run to the fear and face it head on.When you put yourself in a situation that you’ve got fear around (of course, this is not life-threatening or survival fear but maybe fear of speaking up, or fear of asking for that promotion), you are training your brain to be calm and in control.

    Be the person who is willing to see the fear as an opportunity to grow and not as an excuse to shut down or to be triggered.

In your weight loss journey, these triggers can become obstacles to achieve success.

They can be the obstacles that take you off your healthy path.

It’s time that we choose the highest version of ourselves. 

See these triggers as opportunities to grow and become stronger.

You will find that when you come back to the journey, you will have more richness and depth in your experience.

Shine Your Light On Toxic People

Imagine this…

You seem to be on a path of growth and you believe that you can achieve anything you want.

You feel so good about yourself!

Take the belief that the best form of protection is owning your stuff.

When someone triggers me, I immediately go “Wow that really hurt but what is in me that has not been addressed yet?  What is that shadow that I’m too scared to look at?  Why does that person trigger me?”

In the 20 years of spiritual and metaphysical release, every time I ask these questions, I get an answer that allows me to go deeper.

Anytime someone shows up as toxic or threatening, I immediately question myself as to who I need to be so that I can thank the person for making me look deeper at this part of my journey.

When you have the same thinking, it will empower you and give you so much strength and light that you can walk into a room and thrive in an environment of toxic people.

 

What you need to remember is that when someone is becoming toxic around you, it’s because you have shown them so much light.

You become the vessel that awakens the toxicity inside of them.

They are detoxifying and healing right in front of your eyes and that’s an incredible experience.

You’re not arguing, agreeing or disagreeing or even engaging.

Engaging in confrontation with toxic people causes so much stress in our lives.

And as we all know, stress causes unwanted fat storage.

 

Choose to be the woman who has no arguments to prove, no arms to bear and no judgements to defend.

Your will have a more profound sense of who you are and your body will release all that protection that is showing up as body fat and unwanted weight gain.

When you follow the TrimTribe path, you will realize that it’s all about you.

That is the true essence of defense – IT COMES FROM WITHIN.

That is the part of you that comes from nothing to defend, prove or judge.

The Healing Energy Of Crystals

Crystals are organic matter in the form of rocks that come from the earth.

Whether you have them on as beautiful pieces of jewelry or as gorgeous accents in your homes, crystals can give you a sense of self-healing.

Through the years, I have established a collection of museum-quality crystals that I am proud to be the guardian of. I remember the woman I bought them from telling me that, “You do not own these crystals. You are simply their guardian in this lifetime. And they will far outlast you.”

To see their raw, magnificent beauty that has been carved through millions of years of pressure, trauma and obstacles to emerge as the glowing symbol of sparking light brings so much inspiration to my daily path.

Fat Melting Recipe “Carne Asada Wrap”

Experience the different flavors and textures in your mouth as you bite onto these tasty Carne Asada Wraps.

It’s deliciously packed with nutrients that eliminate cravings and help you lose fat.

It’s perfect any time of the day.

 

INGREDIENTS:

For the Marinade:

¼ c. fresh Lime juice
¼ c. fresh Lemon juice
¼ c. Orange juice (freshly squeezed)
4 cloves Garlic (crushed or minced)
1 tbsp. Lemon pepper
1/4 tsp. ground Cumin
2 lb. skirt steak (use grass-fed if available)
1 tbsp. Coconut oil
½ c. red Bell pepper (chopped)
½ c. red Onion (chopped)

For the Wrap:

Spinach wraps/tortillas or large romaine lettuce leaf

DIRECTIONS:

Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl.

Place the skirt steak in large, plastic freezer bag and pour marinade over it.

Seal and refrigerate for up to 6 hours ahead of cooking time.

In a frying pan, add the coconut oil and heat to medium.

Just before the pan begins to smoke, add skirt steak and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side.

When desired doneness is reached, remove steak and place it on a cutting board.

Allow it to rest for 5 minutes.

Cut steak against grain into bite-size cubes or strips (as for fajitas).

Assemble wrap with Carne Asada (steak), red bell pepper and red onion, using the tortilla, lettuce leaf, or spinach wrap.

Down 7 Inches In 4 Weeks!

Over the past 4 weeks, I have been getting ready for an exciting opportunity.

I will soon be shooting an infomercial about health and fitness and I’m so excited!

To be in my best shape, I challenged myself for 28 days.

I wanted to see how my entire body would transform.

And the results are incredible!

I lost 7 inches of body fat but gained 4 points up the scale.

Shocking! It doesn’t make sense!

But when you look into the science of the body, it actually makes complete sense.

What happened is that my body built lean muscles.

Muscles are more dense that body fat and they don’t take as much space.

So, I may be heavier in the scale now but my body is much more toned and it’s tighter than ever before.

 

 

Here’s how I did it.

START WITH AN INTENTION OR A GOAL.
Make the decision that you want to lose the body fat.  Realize that you are doing this for yourself.

 

BEGIN YOUR MORNING WITH A CALM, CLEAR MIND.
You want your mind to set you up to succeed.
Starting with a clear head stops the chaos and stress in your mind.
You become more focused all through out the day.

 

MAKE YOUR NUTRITION DIALED IN.
Eat healthy mini-Meals every 2-3 hours, about 5-6 meals a day.
These meals are a combination of lean protein, lots of vegetables and healthy fats.

Eat slow burning carbohydrates on the 5th or 6th meal or when the sun goes down.  Examples are brown rice, yams or quinoa.
Carbohydrates make you sleepy and having them at this time prepares your body for a good night’s rest.

 

HAVE A CHEAT MEAL ONCE A WEEK.
Once a week, eat whatever you want.

This would avoid the feeling of being deprived.  It would also jumpstart your metabolism once you go back to your healthy eating habits.

 

HYDRATE YOUR BODY ALL THROUGH OUT THE DAY.
Drinking lots of water helps you get get rid of all the toxins.  It’s great for digestion and keeps your metabolism optimized.

 

PRACTICE YOGA.
Personally, I practice Yoga twice a week.  It keeps my body flexible and it helps get rid of common aches and pains.

Yoga is also fantastic as it taps into the internal organs.

 

HAVE FUN.
This is the most important thing that I did.

Enjoy the journey and love the adventure.  Look for movements and activities that you find exciting.

When you are having fun, you keep coming back for more.

Confused About “All Natural” Products?

“All Natural”, “Made With 100% Natural Ingredients”, “Comes From Nature”…

We see these on the labels of different products in the market.

They are on our food, cosmetics, shampoos, home products and many more.

But are they really what they claim to be?

Unfortunately, some of these products get away with saying that they are “All Natural” when in fact, they have hidden toxins in them.

How can this happen?

The FDA or the Food and Drug Administration regulates the chemicals that are allowed in our food supply.

When the companies create a new product, they submit it to the FDA.

If the product has an ingredient that the FDA cannot classify, many times, they just put it under broad terms such as “Natural Flavors”.

These are actually chemicals that can cause damaging effects to your body.

Be aware and educate yourself by flipping the product over and reading the information at the back.

 

MOST COMMON CHEMICALS TO LOOK OUT FOR:

PARABENS – These are toxins that they put on hair sprays, face make up, shampoos, body creams, etc.

They make the products last longer and have a thicker consistency.

Parabens are very damaging because they mimic the hormone Estrogen.

When they enter the body through our skin, they become what is called Xeno-Estrogen.

Too much of this can cause the classic symptoms of a woman on her period  – bloating, irritability, brain fog, mood swings and many more.

SULFATES – These help shampoos and other bath products become bubbly and foamy.

It can cause skin and eye irritation and may also strip the natural oils off of your skin and hair.

ARTIFICIAL/NATURAL FRAGRANCES – This is another term that the FDA uses to disguise a chemical put in products.

When you’re putting on these fragrances, your body will have to work double time to eliminate these  toxins.

If you have a blocked up liver, kidney or intestines, then these are just more toxins that your body needs process.

PETROLEUM – This is oil that comes from the oil field.

You see this in lip balms, products for diaper rash and many more.

Be careful with anything that has petroleum because you are basically putting gas on your face, lips or skin.

 

HOW CAN YOU HAVE A TOXIN-FREE BODY?

For many people, being completely free from chemicals is impossible…and I get that.

I am a woman and I love getting my hair done, putting on my make up and having my nails painted.

I am aware that I am not living a completely toxin-free life.

But it does not have to be perfect.

Starting with eliminating  10% of  toxins can be a huge difference between having a very serious illness and lasting, radiant energy.

Do what you can, make the effort and believe that you deserve it.

It’s all about awareness and taking action.

Practice The Art Of Self-Love
