Confused About “All Natural” Products?

“All Natural”, “Made With 100% Natural Ingredients”, “Comes From Nature”…

We see these on the labels of different products in the market.

They are on our food, cosmetics, shampoos, home products and many more.

But are they really what they claim to be?

Unfortunately, some of these products get away with saying that they are “All Natural” when in fact, they have hidden toxins in them.

How can this happen?

The FDA or the Food and Drug Administration regulates the chemicals that are allowed in our food supply.

When the companies create a new product, they submit it to the FDA.

If the product has an ingredient that the FDA cannot classify, many times, they just put it under broad terms such as “Natural Flavors”.

These are actually chemicals that can cause damaging effects to your body.

Be aware and educate yourself by flipping the product over and reading the information at the back.

 

MOST COMMON CHEMICALS TO LOOK OUT FOR:

PARABENS – These are toxins that they put on hair sprays, face make up, shampoos, body creams, etc.

They make the products last longer and have a thicker consistency.

Parabens are very damaging because they mimic the hormone Estrogen.

When they enter the body through our skin, they become what is called Xeno-Estrogen.

Too much of this can cause the classic symptoms of a woman on her period  – bloating, irritability, brain fog, mood swings and many more.

SULFATES – These help shampoos and other bath products become bubbly and foamy.

It can cause skin and eye irritation and may also strip the natural oils off of your skin and hair.

ARTIFICIAL/NATURAL FRAGRANCES – This is another term that the FDA uses to disguise a chemical put in products.

When you’re putting on these fragrances, your body will have to work double time to eliminate these  toxins.

If you have a blocked up liver, kidney or intestines, then these are just more toxins that your body needs process.

PETROLEUM – This is oil that comes from the oil field.

You see this in lip balms, products for diaper rash and many more.

Be careful with anything that has petroleum because you are basically putting gas on your face, lips or skin.

 

HOW CAN YOU HAVE A TOXIN-FREE BODY?

For many people, being completely free from chemicals is impossible…and I get that.

I am a woman and I love getting my hair done, putting on my make up and having my nails painted.

I am aware that I am not living a completely toxin-free life.

But it does not have to be perfect.

Starting with eliminating  10% of  toxins can be a huge difference between having a very serious illness and lasting, radiant energy.

Do what you can, make the effort and believe that you deserve it.

No More Migraines

Those who have suffered from migraines know that it’s a horrible experience.

I have felt the severe pain of this debilitating headache for years.

However, instead of just going to the doctors and asking for pills, I researched for more information about what migraines are.

 

WHAT ARE MIGRAINES?

They are the throbbing pain that is often followed by repeated attacks of serious headaches.  It affects usually one side of the head.

It is a neurological impulse that can be triggered by several things.

It gives a sensory warning such as nausea, vomiting, blind spot, extreme sensitivity to light and sound and even tingling in the arms and legs.

 

ANATOMY – WHY DO WE GET MIGRAINES?

  1. The vertebrae may be out of place. This will push on a nerve and create a neurological impulse that is very extreme.
  2. There will be pressure in the blood vessels.  This, in turn irritate the nerves reducing blood flow.
  3. Blood vessels in the head then expand to offset reduced blood supply.  The sudden expansion irritates the surrounding nerves and this causes the throbbing pain of a migraine.

 

CAUSES OF MIGRAINES

Hormonal Imbalance
Hormones that are out of whack can trigger inflammation of the body.  This is going to put pressure in the nervous system.

Toxicity
If there are more toxins in the body than nutrients, your body cannot make healthy cells and this will cause your body to break down.

Food Sensitivity
When you have an allergic reaction to food, every cell of the body is going to respond.  Its way of manifesting this is an inflammation.

Digestive Functions and Infections
If your body is exposed to damaging substance, your body is going to fight it. There are many infections that become chronic and can take over body systems.

Adrenals and Thyroids
When a woman is under stress, her adrenal glands release hormones to protect her. Our environment is so full of stress that this system begins to break down.

 

WAYS TO MANAGE YOUR MIGRAINES

Drink Water
Expanding the nerves and eliminating as much as the inflammation as possible can stop headaches.  Drinking lots of water is the fastest way to do this.

Learn To Breathe
By increasing the oxygen that your body receives through breathing, your body will have the opportunity to release waste products as well as bringing more of the number 1 nutrient which is oxygen to the brain.

Practice Yoga
Practicing Yoga specifically Inversions like Downward Dog  will change the blood flow from your head.

There will be an increased circulation that is moving through your neck that will cause plenty of open passages.  The blood is flowing, the oxygen is moving and the inflammation is decreased.

Don’t Hang Out With Negative People
This causes stress in the brain. Need I say more? 🙂

Masking these symptoms with pills and other procedures may cause more harm than good.

Having a deep relationship with your body will help you understand what causes the severe headaches.

Doing inversions such as a child’s pose, downward dog, shoulder stand and head stand will help turn the blood flow the opposite way.

Tip #4:  RELAX THE MIND

Allow yourself to hold a state of bliss and  keep a relaxed state of mind.

Yoga and mediation are great tools to help you feel calm and tranquil.

 

Personally, I don’t believe in aging.

Every day, you have the opportunity to make healthy cells and make better choices to achieve younger looking skin.

So take a moment, feel your skin and give it the love and care it truly deserves.

Fat Melting Recipe “Power Green Soup”

Who says you have to get your vitamins from pills?

This delicious and nutrient-dense soup is like taking a multivitamin in a bowl.

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
1 yellow onion, chopped
Sea salt
1 large leek, white parts only, rinsed and chopped
1 Yukon gold or Yellow Finn potato, peeled and diced small
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon red-pepper flakes or freshly ground black pepper
6 cups vegetable broth
1 bunch Swiss chard, stemmed and coarsely chopped
1 bunch dinosaur kale, stemmed and coarsely chopped
¼ cup loosely packed chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Crunchy Kale Crumbles, parsley or cilantro for garnish

Preparation:

1. Heat the olive oil in a soup pot over medium heat, then add the onion and ¼ teaspoon salt and sauté until the onion is golden, about 10 minutes.

2. Add the leek and potato and sauté for 3 minutes more. Add the garlic and red-pepper flakes and stir for another 30 seconds.

3. Pour in ½ cup of the broth, stirring to loosen any bits stuck to the pot, and cook until the liquid is reduced by half.

4. Add the chard, kale, and another ¼ teaspoon salt. Stir well to combine so the greens will wilt.

5. Then add the remaining 5½ cups of broth and bring to a boil. Cover, and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the greens are just tender.

6. In a blender, puree the soup in batches until very smooth, each time adding the cooking liquid first and then the greens. Blend the pars­ley into the last batch.

7. Pour the soup back into the pot, heat gently over medium-low heat, and stir in the lemon zest and juice.

8. Taste; you may want to add a pinch more salt.

9. Serve garnished with a drizzle of olive oil and topped with the cilantro or parsley for garnish, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Research has shown that smiling releases endorphins which are natural pain relievers and seratonin, the hormones that boost your mood and mindset.

Here are some great tips:

Tip 1:  Focus On Where You Want To Go, Not Where You Have Been.

There’s a saying that you create more of whatever you focus on.

Thus, focus on what you want and NOT what you don’t want.

Putting up photos of you when you were at your heaviest on the fridge is one of the worst things you can do.

You do this thinking that it will stop you from eating.

Unfortunately, this will just make you feel depressed.

Why not look for photos of women with bodies that you want?

Train your mind to focus on what you want to achieve.

Say “I want to be healthy and fit.” instead of “I don’t want to be fat or overweight.”

 

Tip #2:  Share Your Goals With A Friend Or An Accountability Group.

When you share your weight loss goals, it makes everything real.

You are putting it out there to the universe that this is what you want to achieve.

Join a group of people who are going through the same health journey as you are.

Someone will be always be there to remind you of why you actually set these goals.

 

Tip #3: Take Photos

A photo is the best feedback on how far you have come.

You will have a visual representation of your progress.

When you rely on what you see in the mirror, your perception can get distorted.

It’s so easy to get caught on the image that you see.

Tip #4: The More You Give, The More You Can  Receive.

When you help other people get what they want, you will be more abundantly blessed.

Giving and receiving is a cycle and it’s a important part of contributing.

Helping others makes you feel better, raises your health vibration and gives you more energy.

It will make you want to stick to your goals even more.

 

The New Year is a powerful time to make goals and start achieving them.

Never use it to beat yourself up and set expectations that everything will be perfect.

Remember that it is a journey…a continuous adventure.

You will have highs and lows, ups and downs.

The ultimate motivation is being able to accept what is without having to fight against it.

Let the weight loss goals be there to inspire you and lift you up.
